It’s so lovely painting by liamrainsford, I have to reblog this. Water looks so real. i can go on praising it, better watch it.

The part I worried about the most, before I started to paint this picture, was painting the dark shapes in the water. These had to be sharp and with no mixing with the under-paint. Alla prima is the problem – wet on wet. If I allowed painting to dry there would be no problem with the dark shapes mixing with the light blue under-paint. But thats not the way I roll, as the kids would say.

The first layer was Ultramarine Blue with solvent only. This evaporated fairly quickly (with the help of a hair dryer) leaving a thin layer of this transparent blue. I thought about painting the dark shapes directly onto this layer but it was too deep in colour and the texture of the canvas was too noticeable (the paint+solvent settles into the weave and really emphasises the canvas texture). इंसानियत और हैवानियत कभी मरती नहीं
बस जिन्दा दफन रहती हैं
जिस पर जितनी मिटटी डालो वो उतना ही गहरे दब जाती है
ये हम पर है हम किसे बाहर लाना चाहते हैं
इंसानियत पर से मिटटी उठा कर
हैवानियत पर उसे डाल गहरे दबा सकते हैं
या इसका उल्टा कर सकते हैं

जब भी आप मैं कोई अन्याय होता देख
मुहं फेर के चले जाते हैं तो
एक मुठ्ठी रेत इंसानियत की कब्र पे डाल
उसे और गहरे दबा देते हैं
हैवानियत खड़े हंस रही है
कोई अच्छा कर्म कीजिये
इंसानियत पर से एक मुठ्ठी रेत उठा कर
हैवानियत पर दे मारिये
उसे दफ्न कर दीजिये
फैसला हमारे हाथ है
हम किसे जिन्दा रखना चाहते हैं
बहुत बड़ा कुछ नहीं करना है
बस किसी रोते को हँसाना है
किसी गिरते को सहारा देकर
किसी का हौसला बढाकर
अपना कर्तव्य निभाना है
अपने आसपास से ही ,
छोटी छोटी बातों से शुरू कर
बड़े लक्ष्य की ओर जाना है
अपने अन्दर ही इंसानियत को जगाये रखना है|

जिन्हें पास लाती गयी जिंदगी

यूं तो रोते रहने से

Bashir Sultani creates art using a salt shaker, I was amazed when I first saw this video, he has done some beautiful portraits, I chose the one he did of Albert Einstein, but he has done a lot more.

Taronga zoo has a new baby gorilla named Kipenzi, which apparently means “precious one” in Swahili.

There are some photo’s here at the Daily Telegraph of baby Kipenzi, as well as some other animals, the 1st 6 photo’s are of the baby gorilla.
