SCHOOL BELL
Fiction
Word count – 107
As a school bell, I’ve shared so many events, good, bad, enjoyable, or despicable.
I regret that I cannot express myself when I’m happy; give rewards, or give evidence when watching a crime being committed, like the last time when the eve-teasers forced their way to a girl’s class, ousted everyone, poured kerosene on her, and set her on fire and ran away, just because her father dared to report against them to the police. The whole school watched with horror but no one had the courage to testify against the scoundrels.
Alas! I just hang there as a mute spectator.
(Based on a true incident)

Good story but very sad. It’s all too true that such sickening things are happening in the world.

Eerie story, interesting perspective. One question: You are talking about the murder of a little girl, I think, but you mention “his” father. This confused me a little.

I’m so sorry if this is confusing. Actually i tried to sum up every thing in 100 words. Its a real incident happened in my town in India. The eve teasers were miffed because girl’s father reported to police, police gave them some threshing and warning. They took revenge in this manner. So much atrocities are going against women in some parts all are not even reported.

Yes, crimes against women that aren’t prosecuted need to have a bright light shined upon them.

Its just one incident dear. So much happens when some woman tries to be brave and reports about crime committed to them. Rape, acid throwing all types of atrocities happen against them even now. Sad story indeed. Thanks for your visit and comment.

No dear. She was rapped by four people and brutally killed in Delhi. This time whole Delhi was out on the road for justice for her. It was very heinous crime.

Every People have evil spirits sprinkled in with the good. I was raised in the South, and saw a lot of injustice growing up. Your story was very sad but if it isn’t said, then people will forget and the memory of the horror will fade. Great story! Thanks, Nan
