AFTERMATH

Nine years old survivor recalls ‘ her house was bombed by a government warplane.’  She lost her leg, parents, siblings, and house and had to flee from her country with others to take shelter in another country.

Watching other children, playing in the park, enjoying swings, and slides, and running after butterflies as she used to do in her country, makes her cry.

When two countries fight for political or religious reasons, it is the children who suffer the most. For those who witness their parents, friends, and neighbors shot and killed, their childhood is lost. Life is never the same again for them.

About Indira

I knew all along that life is about, love, compassion, compatibility and friendship, but now I have discovered that life is also about sharing the thoughts, encouraging others and getting encouraged. So here I am with my blogs about life, friendship, love, and whatever life has taught me.

  1. So beautifully expressed and so true. The photo is awesome, it captures the reality of your story so vividly Indira. Sad realities are very touching and so is your story as it focuses on one such grim reality of modern day warfare. Take care and God bless.

  3. Hoping and praying that the cycle of violence will end — do these children have a chance? It has to end. So painful, this post — but so well written.

  5. It’s difficult to see where and how all this can possibly end. A topical take on the prompt.

  6. Nothing can be the same after you have to flee after such ordeals.. And the world is full of people who have lost their childhood

  7. Dear Indira, Good story and so sad but it is true. Listen to the news this last year – everyone is fighting – Hey remember the song “All we are saying, is Give Peace A Chance” I hope you are far away from harm and your loved ones, but when I look at the news and see some other mother’s child crying with blood on their head, I just want to scream. We have too many people on this planet that are troublemakers. Sorry Indira, but your story is so poignant! Thanks, Nan 🙂

    • Dear Nan. In India we are under constant threat from terrorists and unrest at border. Nowadays life is nowhere safe. I’m worried for children. There are already enough disasters caused by nature so why make more trouble.
Thanks Nan for reading and touchy comment.

  8. Dear Indira,

Childhood is a time to be carefree and innocent. You made me ache for the little girl in your story and for others for whom this is harsh reality and childhood is nonexistent.

    shalom,

  9. A wonderful but sad take on the prompt. Childhood should never be lost. It is too short to begin with.

  10. Indira, Such a tragic story. You wrote it well. That could have been the story of many children these days, and it’s so sad. Well done. —Susan
