Retreat

My spiritual guru’s voice was ringing in my head as I started climbing the stairs.

‘Each step will take you to the eternal light. Don’t look back. Surrender and you will attain enlightenment and salvation’

I thought it easy as I had nothing to lose except this sickly body which has given me nothing but miseries.

I was about to take the plunge when fear of surrendering to unknown grasped me.

Back there was at least a world of known hell of addictive miseries. Whereas here was surrendering to unknown about which I was not sure.

I retreated to my hell.

About Indira

I knew all along that life is about, love, compassion, compatibility and friendship, but now I have discovered that life is also about sharing the thoughts, encouraging others and getting encouraged. So here I am with my blogs about life, friendship, love, and whatever life has taught me.

  1. Oh I do love this… I get this brilliant line from Me and Bobby McGee reverberating:
Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose

But maybe there something left to lose after all.

  2. Dear Indira,

What a sad commentary. How often the familiar, no matter how desperately miserable is preferable to some than the unknown. It speaks of those with addictions who are afraid to be healthy and productive. Wonderfully written, my dear.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  7. Very sad, Indira. Perhaps she has some reason for going back she won’t admit to. She could also be thinking about family, or isn’t used to just giving up. Good writing. —- Suzanne
