Regret
‘No one came to visit me?’ he tried to keep straight face. As usual nurse’s answer was negative.
He was bedridden and in good hands for he has all the money to afford great care but he felt all the care he got was mechanical.
He admitted that he was responsible for loneliness as he was one of those people who believe that money can buy love, friends, care, security, and loyalty. He believed that everything and everyone has a price tag. You pay the right amount and you will get whatever you want. He was arrogant, stubborn and never cared for anyone. He was always suspicious of everyone.
He always wore a fierce countenance so no one could come near enough to take advantage of him and in the process he became lonely. Everyone left him except for his servants who worked for money. Even they left him when they could not bear his extreme cynical behavior.
Now lying in a posh nursing home, all alone, with no visitors to cheer him, he regretted, why he didn’t realize that money cannot buy true unconditional love and friendship.
