An Emotional Cat

Mom warned me sternly before going to the church to not to touch anything. She has gone health conscious. No icing on cake and pastries, no frothing cream on milk shakes and roasted nuts? Yaks! Who wants them?

But I know who loves nuts and I’m sure it will come. It enters through the loose fire exit door.

Dad always procrastinates repairing it. He is not interested in anything except his bike or some electronic gadgets.

I get ready to pounce after it savors few nuts. Let the poor fellow fulfill its last wish.

I am Emotional. What to do?

 Meeting culture

Every visit to the Sacred River greets them with the stink of leftover food, used plastic cups/ bottles and stale flowers, thrown in the river by the residents after rituals, and picnickers, without any concern,
How  they long for fresh air, clean sparkling water.
Every time they blame the government and people for failing to keep the environment clean.
Every time they vow to do something about it.
Every time they pat each other’s back for their awareness and concern.
Every time they treat themselves to a sumptuous lunch and postpone plan of action for  next meeting.

Coincident

I saw my neighbour in the bus merrymaking with bridegroom and the wedding guests. They were going to the bride’s residence for wedding ceremony.

‘What happened?’ I asked when I saw him coming back fuming.

‘I advised them not to drink in the bus but nobody listened to me and when I stopped them from giving it to the driver they kicked me out.’

After few hours we learned that the bus had drowned in the river due to the driver’s fault.

No one survived  that accident except the one who was kicked out.

Was it a coincidence?

( This story is based on a real, very tragic incident . Bridegroom, his relatives and many friends died in it. That man was really kicked out.)

Suddenly conscience of one of them started tormenting him. In spite of the fear that anyone of his partner in crime may shoot him, he wrote a book about how they were responsible for downfall of stock market and world economy.

He was happy that at last he listened to his conscience but the harm was done.

The best Computer- Human Brain

When sage Ved-Vyasa, (“the one who classified the Vedas”)

, wished to write down The Mahabharat the longest known epic poem of ancient India

The Grandsire Brahma, creator of the universe told him to Ganapati to write down the stanzas recited by Vyasa.

Ganapati agreed to write only if Vyasa will never pause in his recitation. Vyasa also imposed one condition that Ganapati must have to take time to understand what was said before writing.

Ganapati agreed as he had the most advanced computer with a memory like an elephant and an inbuilt mouse which selects, cuts and pastes, all inside his brain.

The Proud Owner

The proud owner of the house forgot that he has to leave it one day.

He took great pride in maintaining it with utmost care and love,  surrounded it with a beautiful garden.

He devoted all his time in beautifying its exterior, neglecting its interior and other aspects of life. He neglected maintaining good relationship with relatives, friends and neighbours.

When the time to departure came he repents,

‘One must always make balance in maintaining the interior and exterior of the house, one must plant seeds of good karma so the fragrance of flowers of good karma will remain forever.’

COLD BLOODED

The prisoners were lying in the morgue in a row, their sale-able organs removed.

They were handpicked by the racketeer from various prisons, very well knowing that no one ever came to visit them or inquired about them, so they were easy prey.

They will lie there for few days then will be cremated without any sympathy or concern.

‘Worthless! Would have died anyway in the prison, without doing any good deed’, thought the racketeer,’ now at least they will serve the mankind with their valuable organs. They should thank me for they will be going to heaven at last.’

LESSON

‘I cannot go up mother; it’s hard to climb up.’ I whined.

‘Yes you can, first drop all those things weighing you down.’ Mother cajoled.

‘ Pride, prejudices, envy, anger, hatred, any negative emotion you have drop at each step Then you will notice how easy it is to reach the top   but remember it’s hard to go up and stay there but easy to come down.’

‘How do you know?

‘Because I was there once.’

“Why not come with me?

‘I am retired. Now I will stay here and help people go up.’

CURSED

She is on a self-imposed exile.

I watch her taking long walks all alone.

Singing ‘I’m cursed to be alone’.

I tried to be friendly with her but she declined.

She said that she is cursed and everyone she will love or become friendly will die or go away.

She recalls.

The first time she cried when her husband died suddenly, then one by one her dear ones died in a procession. Slowly her tears dried. Her eyes were like the Dead Sea.  Now no one’s death moves her. There are no tears left in her eyes.

She prefers a lonely life.

( This based on the story of someone I know)

Link Restored

Mother wrote to me,

“Everyone turns to their root at one point in their life.”

“Ha!” I replied, “I have adjusted in this foreign land with its culture, philosophy and almost everything, moreover I’m comfortable with work facilities here.”

Mother replied,

“People are like migratory birds, no matter how much you fly away, you come back home at last.”

“No way!” I concluded.

Now watching my parents standing hand in hand even after so many fights, arguments, difference of opinion at their fiftieth wedding anniversary, I suddenly felt insecure, can’t explain why?

I wrote to mother,

“Mother we are coming back.”

My sister-in-law with her husband at their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
