Sunny, who’s both feet had been amputated,  when he was four had long back accepted his disability and tried to be always happy lest grandma becomes sad, suddenly requested his grandma’ I want shoes! ‘
Grandma, who was taking him for a ride on his wheelchair, looked sadly at him.
‘ Don’t look so sad dear, I want them for my best friend, he cannot buy shoes and cannot play without them,’ said he.
Grandma lovingly showered blessings on him.
He laughed ‘ One day, with your blessings I am going to climb Mount Everest.

You want to bet?

Friday Fiction Challenge hosted by Rochelle Wisoff

14 December 2018

Parents

What we couldn’t afford in childhood, so we wanted to give every opportunity to our children to pursue their hobby.

They said music, we ran for the musical instruments.

They showed interest in DIY, we hurried for the toolkit.

They said computer we bought it.

They said world trotting; we were ready with the globe and maps.

Our son joined navy at 18 and daughter got married as soon as she finished studies.

We were left with all the items to look after.

Don’t have the heart to sell them.

Just have a good laugh when we are all together.

Mumbai Monsoon

There was heavy rainfall last week,  rains have reduced, still on and off they come with vengeance in heavy bouts. It’s cloudy with strong winds blowing.  On Marine Drive its an occasion for the selfie lovers who in spite of the warning from the police department taking selfies DANADAN with pouts without inhibitions.

Long live Mumbaiyaas and their un-daunting spirit.

We are enjoying rains here which is scarce in Visakhapatnam.I’m also busy with my phone taking shot after shot.

They make lots of promises before the election
They forget everything after the election
Oh! these politicians
And their ambitions
Makes them bend over backwards to win the election

Or- The Daily Prompt

Or?

Do as I say OR

Bear the consequences

Threatened everyone

From parents to nature and God

I hated to be threatened

So broke every rule

And am

Suffering

The consequences

Now I have

Mellowed down

As I understand

Rules are

Not always

To dare you but

For your betterment

And discipline you

So better watch

Before saying no

Think carefully

Then accept and nod

Five Sentence Fiction – Freedom

Five Sentence Fiction – Freedom

 FREEDOM

He was 15 days old when brought as a pet, kept with great care and love; still, he longed to go outside and play with the street dogs and envied them for their freedom.

When he was one year old, in his quest for freedom he escaped one day and ran outside to play with other dogs but as soon as the peck of stray dogs saw him they chased him barking fiercely, scared he ran like hell and hid in the nearby forest where his foot got entrapped in a thin wire animal trap.

Thankfully dogs did not chase him in the forest; he was very much scared, hungry and longing for his owners care and love.

Somehow he managed to free himself and ran for his house where he was scolded by worried owners but given a bath, food, love and a soft bed to sleep.

Freedom is dangerous and risky he thought, bondage has its own comfort, security, and convenience once you become accustomed to it.
