A Month of Mini Writing Challenges

A Month of Mini Writing Challenges

I stumbled upon this challenge very late. It is already 27th Sep.

The theme is –

  • Day 27 – Write a poem inspired by the theme of “home” in less than 10 lines.

Home Sweet Home

Home is where the heart is

The heart is where the love is

Love is where the compassion is

Compassion is where the understanding is

Understanding is where the friendship is

Friendship is where the compatibility is.

When all these make

The four walls and the roof

Then there a sweet home is.

Enchant Your Everyday- Light

Posted on

Enchanting my everyday

by allowing the light of knowledge

to enter every nook and corner of my mind and heart

Let there be no darkness, no negativity

only light of love, peace,

compassion and understanding

shall dwell in my mind

let there be full understanding that

we are all kindred soul

‘ Faith in Almighty

Connects us with each other

We all are soul mates’

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. –Albus Dumbledore

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings
Give light, and the darkness will disappear of itself. (Desiderius Erasmus)

Light the Lamp of Thy Love :

In my house, with Thine own hands,
Light the lamp of Thy love!
Thy transmuting lamp entrancing,
Wondrous are its rays.
Change my darkness to Thy light, Lord!
Change my darkness to Thy light.
And my evil into good.
Touch me but once and I will change,
All my clay into Thy gold
All the sense lamps that I did light
Sooted into worries
Sitting at the door of my soul,
Light Thy resurrecting lamp!

~Rabindranath Tagore

Enchant Your Everyday: A Month of Loving the World

Day 16- Flight

God has not given me wings

perhaps it was never intended that I fly
but to my mind
were given thousands of wings
to fly above the clouds
to discover new lands
to never sit still in one place
however, may I  try
with the mind of a wanderer
and the body tied to the earth
I make my life enchanting
by not to take a flight
when I see others in a plight

Writing 201: Trust

Posted on

Writing 201: Trust– Day 3 is here — and so are questions of trust, acrostics, and internal rhymes.

I learned from my pet,                                                 ma14 (2)

How to love without affectation,
Trust without calculation,
Friendship without discrimination,
How to get adulation without manipulation
To forgive and forget without reservation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love, trust, compassion
Synonymous with friendship
True friends are  a bliss
Wedding Anneversary
Posted on
Yesterday, 10th Aug. was my 42nd Wedding Anniversary. I wanted to write so many things but my daughter sent me a cartoon about in-depth observation  of my 42 years journey. I thought why waste words when a picture can tell a story perfectly.
So ENJOooooooooooooooooooooooY friends.
This is one of my old poems but fits the bill, I think.
leap of Faith
We were poles apart
Destined to come together
In the name of God,  love and friendship
We took the leap of Faith.
Sometimes our paths were dark
Sometimes they were bright
Our compassion and compatibility
Made us bond together
And God set everything right
You put
To impress others
Others
Judge you
By your deeds
Deeds
If good
Need no mask
CONFUSION
Posted on
On my way to the morning walk
I met a centipede
walking leisurely in the park
I asked him
“Which foot you move first”
He stopped on his way
Tried hard  but could not decide
Leaving him there confused
Searching for an answer.
I moved on
While coming back
I saw it still there,
Scratching its head
I asked it what is the matter dear
He said
“I was walking before without doubt and confusion
Now I cannot decide
Which foot to move first
And this is the cause
Of my strife.”
It eyed me with disgust and said
“Some people
Can not take a right move themselves
but are busy in creating
confusion in others life.”
Life is unpredictable
Future is uncertainty
In the path of your life
Your fate you will meet
Which will savor you as a treat
Gutter Journalism
Posted on
Since Eric Alagan
has wrapped his post- Gutter- 33 word flash-fiction-  I thought why not post it here as a poem.
            Gutter
Journalist from the gutter press
in search of some sensational story
or picture
indifferent to the anguish of a mother
searches for a suitable title
ignores cries of the mother
asking for help
as her child falls in the gutter
