C for Cyclone- Cyclone Hudhud

Deadly Tropical Cyclone Hudhud Strikes India on October 12

Hudhud was the equivalent of a strong Category 3 hurricane with winds sustained at 200 kph (125 mph) before making landfall on Sunday morning near Visakhapatnam.

Hudhud caused extensive damage to the city of Visakhapatnam and the neighboring districts .

Visakhapatnam is now bereaved of its greenery. 80% trees are uprooted except coconut and palm trees . We were confined to our flat for six days without electricity and drinking water. I could not go out and take pictures as lift was not working.

Now Visakhapatnam does not looks like  the photos i have posted before of lush green city and Vuda park.  Its impact was more drastic on the lives of the poor, the slum dwellers and fishing villages along the coast.

Sunday Stills, the next challenge: Clouds

The sky, a perfect empty canvas, offers clouds nonetheless. They shift and drift and beg interpretation… such is the nature of art. ~Jeb Dickerson

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky. ~Rabindranath Tagore

I bring fresh showers for the thirsting flowers,
From the seas and the streams;
I bear light shade for the leaves when laid
In their noonday dreams….
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, “The Cloud”

Weekly Photo Challenge- Adventure!

Everyday is an adventure.

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.- Jawaharlal Nehru.
