Reena’s Exploration Challenge #112

WRITING PROMPT 112

This week you can choose one or more from a set of 10 words/phrases, to kick start your thought process. Let us see where the journey takes you. The comments often offer different perspectives and start another thread of creativity. Find time to read those and interact with other writers.

Here are the options….

  1. pockets of stillness
  2. question your maps
  3. cynical assertions
  4. lost alphabet
  5. was that really me?
  6. crumbling thoughts
  7. undulating patterns
  8. free-flowing bonds
  9. pregnant pause
  10. potential of emptiness

Pockets of Stillness

~Indira

It is so much more rewarding to understand than to feel right, even if that means changing your mind about a subject, an ideology, a person and even yourself. — Maria Popova

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #96

The two sentences for the prompt this week are fairly simple, and yet not so simple.

This is where I lost myself

This is where I found myself

————————————————————————————————————————-

Unconsciously
I entered the forest
as if in a haze
in a haste
to explore as much as I can
quickly
and in the process
got lost
There is so much to get lost
In the forest called life
I was unprepared
Didn’t know the jungle rules
When panic subsides
Calmness takes over
I turn back
I find
The way to go back is the same
which brought me here
the same will
take me to where I have started
Time wasted
or
Lessons learned
To find
I have to start  again
but this time
with consciousness

Quaint Lover

go

grow

fly in the sky

explore the world

don’t hang to me

I’m rooted

immobile

 you have wings to fly

don’t look at me

with sad eyes

I’m bad with goodbyes

but promise to me

When you are tired

your wings weak

feel lonely

and  undesired

come back to me

I’ll always be there

waiting for thee

rest in my arms

I’ll sing a lullaby

Just like a fool
Without knowing swimming
Jumped in the lake

(Does a Haiku needs to have exactly 17 syllables? Haiku doesn’t have to have 17 syllables. That “rule” is based on something that makes sense in Japanese, not so much in English.  )

(Choose any one quote, choose both or add your own to make sense of it.The format can be  a story/poem/rant/anecdotes/journalistic coverage of events/ reflections/history/geography/memory as usual.  No word or time limits.)

Even a cell matters
When functions well
Life secure
But when it rebels
Life obscure

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 41

We are dabbling with Erasure Poetry this week – call it White Out or Black Out as you please.

Erasure is a form of found poetry or found object art created by erasing words from an existing text in prose or verse and framing the result on the page as a poem.[1] The results can be allowed to stand in situ or they can be arranged into lines and/or stanzas.

BLUE: The Color Of Longing

The world is blue at its edges

and in its depths

The blue that gets lost
never travels the
whole distance
from the sun to us

the blue that got lost
the blue that does not reach us
gives color to the colorless water
purer the water
the deeper the blue
at the horizon
the blue land
seems to be
dissolving in the blue sky
the blue
at the farthest
reaches of the places
where you see for miles
deeper
dreamier
melancholy blue
the blue
color of distance
the blue
which does not touch us
does not travel the whole distance
is the beauty of the world
so much of which is
in the color blue.
blue
at the far edge
of
what can be seen
the color of the horizon
of remote mountain ranges
of anything
far away
color of emotion
the color of
solitude and desire
the color
where you can never go
for
the blue is not
at the horizon
but in the atmospheric distance
between you and mountains
the color of
longings
for the distance
you never arrive in,
For the blue world
~Indira
