My

home was

surrounded

by trees and ponds

what a  heavenly

landscape it provided

Now unscrupulous tree cutting

and unscrupulous use of plastics

Alas! only what I see around

The huge dump of plastics or Plasticscape

Beneath All That Cobweb- Somkritya

Posted on

via Beneath All That Cobweb

Grandmother’s chest in the attic,

Waiting for someone to come near her

Ears strained to hear the known footsteps

Vision blurred with cobwebs but her spirit is not

Maybe there is something for you in there maybe not,

But how will you know if you don’t reach out to it?

A quilt and some handkerchiefs

A world of soft cotton and lace

Hope and warmth embroidered in each one

Maybe you will find solace in them maybe not

But how will you know if you don’t embrace them?

Some old wrinkled and some neatly packed clothes

They have more deals and tales

Than any book or shop

The soothing whiff of love, comforting whispers

Maybe you will find them enlightening maybe not

But how will you know if you don’t let them express?

At the corner of the chest are some old memories

Some letters have gone yellow; some brown

Some old pictures; of a naughty little girl on a swing

Of a free-spirited woman before and after her marriage

Oh! the beautiful carefree past and their echoes

Maybe you will find some mantra in them maybe not

But how will you know if you don’t ask?

Hope, love, warmth, inspiration, and some surprises in store

The old neglected chest can be full all this and more

An old set of dentures desperate to share her story

An old eyeglass full of wisdom

This may be your lucky day maybe not

You may find something valuable, maybe not

But how will you know….

Weekend Writing Prompt #19 – Abundance

Poetry Challenge – Write a non-rhyming poem, in 15 lines or less, that includes the words:

  • abundance, prosperity, plenty

Nature’s gifts

were in abundance

for everyone

without discrimination

hoping humans will use it with wisdom

for their prosperity

there were plenty

for everyone’s need

though

not for their greed

they took them for granted

misused, wasted and abused

and like fools cut the branches

on which, they were sitting

Harmonize- The Daily Post

We were poles apart

So different in looks and choices

Different were our views and habits

Still, we were

Destined to come together

In the name of  love and friendship

We took a leap of Faith

Sometimes going seemed tough

But

Compassion and compatibility

Some compromises

Our ability to agree to disagree on some matters

Giving space to each other do whatever we like

Made us bond together

And God blended and blessed us

To harmonize the song of our life

Inevitable

Inevitable is

Failing and falling

Inevitable is

Life and death

Inevitable is

Faults and failures

Inevitable is

Disappointments

But never give up

Faith, courage and

Dedication

As giving up is a sin

And an obstacle

In your path to win

The daily Post- Longing

Longing

What do I long for?

Love? Friendship? Company of people? Peace?

Sometimes I feel very lonely

And the more lonely I feel

the more lonely I want to be

I don’t want to talk to anyone

Don’t want to mix with people

I just want to dwell in my gloominess,

Submerge in my sorrows

No materialistic pleasure can calm me

Can give me peace

So what is it I want?

Who can understand?

How I’m feeling

What I’m feeling

What I’m longing for

Perhaps I yearn for that great comfort, calmness, peace, delight?

I felt when I was in my mother’s lap

Enchant Your Everyday- Light

Posted on

Enchanting my everyday

by allowing the light of knowledge

to enter every nook and corner of my mind and heart

Let there be no darkness, no negativity

only light of love, peace,

compassion and understanding

shall dwell in my mind

let there be full understanding that

we are all kindred soul

‘ Faith in Almighty

Connects us with each other

We all are soul mates’

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. –Albus Dumbledore

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings
Give light, and the darkness will disappear of itself. (Desiderius Erasmus)

Light the Lamp of Thy Love :

In my house, with Thine own hands,
Light the lamp of Thy love!
Thy transmuting lamp entrancing,
Wondrous are its rays.
Change my darkness to Thy light, Lord!
Change my darkness to Thy light.
And my evil into good.
Touch me but once and I will change,
All my clay into Thy gold
All the sense lamps that I did light
Sooted into worries
Sitting at the door of my soul,
Light Thy resurrecting lamp!

Monthly Peace Challenge: Peace Child

 PLEA OF A CHILD

I am born innocent, full of love and peace.

I am born neither Hindu, Muslim, Christian nor Sikh, Jain or Buddhist.

You brand me with a label of religion without me knowing what religion is.

Instead of teaching me love, friendship, compassion, and compatibility,

You teach me to hate people of other religion, ideology, culture, color, caste, and creed.

I request all the teachers, parents, and elder person, please stop teaching me anything.

There will be differences between us as no two people can think alike but we will manage.

We will play, fight, and makeup if we are not taught to carry on fights on the basis of ego and arrogance.

If you stop fighting with each other and start living in peace and harmony we will automatically learn that.

If you will give respect to people of other religions, caste, and creed, you will not have to bother with teaching me anything as we children are an incarnation of love and peace.

~Indira

The Child-Angel

They clamor and fight, they doubt and despair, they know no end
to their wrangling.

Let your life come amongst them like a flame of light,

my child,

unflickering and pure,

and delight them into silence.
They are cruel in their greed and their envy,

their words are like
hidden knives thirsting for blood.

Go and stand amidst their scowling hearts, my child, and let
your gentle eyes fall upon them like the forgiving peace of the
evening over the strife of the day.

Let them see your face, my child, and thus know the meaning
of all things; let them love you and thus love each other.

Come and take your seat in the bosom of the limitless, my
child.

At sunrise open and raise your heart like a blossoming
flower, and at sunset bend your head and in silence complete the
worship of the day.

Rabindranath Tagore

MOMENTS

Moments of love I cherish.

Moments of togetherness I relish.

Moments of gratitude I like to live again and again.

Moments of compassion I linger on.

Though moments of hatred  I try to forget,

moments of failure, I try to forget not,

to learn from them and move on.
