Reena’s Exploration Challenge #138

I wish life can be that simple

the world is a stage

and we are the mere players

then we can blame

the producer, director, writer

all in one in this case

with no responsibility

of our acts

as we are just puppets

where someone else is pulling

the strings

and sleep comfortably

but if it’s

my life my rules

then the whole responsibility lies on us

for our choices

our decisions

our action

our reactions

take the full credit and

exit

with full contentment

PROMPT #135

For this week, here is a quote.

The field is wide open to you to mull over it and structure your piece around it. It can be a loose structuring – any story/memory/anecdote that comes to mind. You may write a poem or essay based on it.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #79- Color of Beauty

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #79

Words: Color, Chroma, Pigment, Hue, Stain, Tinge

What is the color of beauty?
I don’t remember seeing the mother in any other saree than white, no hues of any color.
Even after doing all household work by herself how she kept it so white always puzzled me.
She Finished her cooking without a stain of turmeric or red chilly or from any spice or fruits or vegetables.
After the bath, she used to wear sarees with a colored border red or, green or blue, or whatever with a matching blouse. She used red sindoor as big bindi between her eyebrows, would put a little black homemade Kajal in her eyes and lo!  The most beautiful woman in the world was ready to compete in any beauty contest.
Well, it was and is my opinion though she thought herself ugly in comparison to my father who was fairer than she who was a few shades darker than him.
Alas! She never looked herself through my eyes.
Does color matter to define beauty?
Whatever shade of color you are you only need love, grace, and compassion to look beautiful.
Motherhood is chroma of Beauty.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 46

Prompt

nothing changes

When I was young
I thought the world will change
the riots will stop
with education
with development
scientific reasoning
people will become tolerant
more understanding
compassionate
to other religions
there will be liberty to
to choose partners
Politicians will become more
honest, loyal to their country and countrymen
less selfish
less arrogant
women will be treated equally
there will be no poverty
we have become more fashionable
more techno-savvy
but you can’t change the mentality
of some
who will do anything to get power in their hands
they will go to any extent

Of course, there is a major difference
in attitude
we killed with the stones then
now we kill with the sophisticated weapons.
