Writing 101, day 14: Recreate a single day.

Magic of Hug

Only once in my life time I did a mischievous act and got punished for it. Friends did it every time ,played pranks on others and got away with it.

I pulled the chair when my friend was going to sit, she fell down. Nothing happened to her but the chair’s arm fell down too. I was summoned to Mother Superior. She calmly fined me Rs. 13 without any scolding.

When I told my mother, She paid the fine but she scolded me terribly even after me saying sorry to her and my friend, and also that it was my first mischief. Wasn’t I her youngest and pet child? How could she do it to me?

I did not eat and went to sleep early.

After some time I felt a warm drop on my cheek and a hand patting my head.

I got up. Mother was there with food and requested me to eat. In fact I was very hungry and secretly waiting for that.

She hugged me and made me promise never to do it again.

I love you and miss you maa.

Writing 101, Day 10: Let the scene write itself

Writing 101, day 10-

Let the scene write itself

Scene 1-

I’m sitting on a rock on the sea beach watching immersion of Idols of Goddes Durga. Just four days ( some celebrate for 9 days as Navaratri) ago we were worshiping her with full fun and frolics, with flowers and sweets. Now it is time for her to go back to her abode  hence the immersion in the sea.

Scene 2 –

After one week I’m sitting at the same place. I observed  remnants of the those beautiful idols washed ashore by the waves. Sea never keeps anything. It returns whatever is offered to it.

It makes me think

Why we are arrogant, stubborn and hyper

Why we fight for class, color, cast or creed

Why we have become so intolerant

Why we are not compassionate, compatible and friendly

There are so many whys…

Why for petty things we pull out dagger

When the end is same for the king or beggar

Writing 101- Reinvent the letter format

A Letter To My Alter Ego

My dear alter ego,

You knew very well that I never like to write about myself. Still you coaxed me into it saying that it will help me to know myself and its time I should acknowledge my plus and minus points.

I was always a coward. I feared darkness, ghosts, and loneliness. I was afraid of fights, violence, criticism, failure and losing my friends and near and dear ones.

It was you, who gave me strength, courage and hope to come out of darkness, face fears and fight with them.

You only taught me that not being perfect is all right.

You said one cannot win all the times but the joy of participating is bigger than everything.

You taught me to stand for whatever one thinks is right.

You taught me the pleasure of sharing and caring as well as one should not feel guilty in enjoying things in life, it is not a sin.

You always had to be vigilant to keep me on the right tracks.

You knew that  if you take even a wink then I will go inside my shell like a turtle.

I want to confess that I’m grateful to have such a nice friend like you.

You are my conscience.

Please never ever leave me.

Love you.

Yours forever

Indira.

Writing 101, Day 6: The space to write

Posted on

I’m not very particular about the writing place or any special type of writing material.

If you are brimming with the ideas you can jot down with a simple pen, pencil and whatever paper you can lend your hand on. Sometimes paper napkin comes handy also.

Personal computer and a writing-table are bonus points.

I’m lucky enough to have my laptop, a table and good number of pen and notebooks but my main problem is ideas. I sit in front of the computer with a prompt ready but nothing comes to mind. But the moment you switch off the computer , start doing other job the thoughts come pouring in at the most weird time. Sometimes at odd places where you can’t keep pen and paper handy.

Problem is if you can’t jot them down they vanish forever.

If you have it [Love], you don’t need to have anything else, and if you don’t have it, it doesn’t matter much what else you have. ~ Sir James M. Barrie

Regret

‘No one came to visit me?’, he tried to keep straight face. As usual nurse’s answer was negative.

He was bedridden and in good hands for he has all the money to afford great care but he felt all the care he got was mechanical.

He admitted to himself that he was responsible for his loneliness as he was one of those person who believe that money can buy love, friends, care, security and loyalty. He believed that everything and everyone has a price tag. You pay the right amount and you will get whatever you want.  He was arrogant, stubborn and  never cared for anyone.  He was always suspicious of everyone.

He always wore a fierce countenance so no one could come near enough to take advantage of him and in the process he became lonely.  Everyone left him except for his servants who worked for money.  Even they left him when they could not bear his extreme cynical behavior.

Now lying in a posh nursing home, all alone, with no visitors to cheer him, he regretted, why he didn’t realize that money cannot buy true unconditional love and friendship. Now without love his life was like a body without soul. Cold and dark.

Writing 101, day 4: A story in a single image

Woman in woods

Preference

She had no other choice but to enter the woods.

There were four goons chasing her. In her haste to run away from them to a safe place she took the wrong turn and came near the woods.

Now if she goes back they will catch her and what they would do to her, the very though was very scary.

She thought even if there are wild animals in the woods they will kill and eat her if they are hungry. They were not like human beings who kill for joy. Some people get pleasure in being cruel to others, by terrorizing others, by killing, rape or other heinous crimes.

After much thinking she decided that though there is a very slight but still a prospect of  survival. She preferred the company of animals over human beings and entered the woods.

Things I have learned

At old age one tends to become preachy not because you want to grab attention or to show how intelligent you are. It is just that life teaches you so much and so much you learned from your mistakes and hardship of life, you want to share it with everyone so that they do not repeat those  mistakes.

Now one thing I have learned that youngsters don’t like
preaching or advises. They like to learn from their mistakes. We elders should give them the chance and space to them to grow up.
We should not be over protective. Just show them what is good and bad and let them take their decisions. They will learn from their choices and decisions. This is the part of their growing up. It will make them tough.
I more thing I have learned that if you keep your mind open, every creature in this world has some lesson to teach you.
Age does not matter
Teacher may be young or old

Lessons are important

——————————————

Some lessons from life

Life is a journey

Full of challenges and fights

Key word is courage

——————————————-

Someone somewhere cares

The thought is so comforting

 Makes Life bearable

————————————

Life is a marathon

Rules are straight and clear

Take rest but don’t quit

Writing 101- Last assignment Future

Cat sleeping

This time journey was wonderful as I completed all the assignment for Writing 101, almost on time. Once or twice I faltered but managed to complete them.

I made more friend and more followers. I also followed them and learned writing tips from them. What a wonderful lot. Always encouraging and taking time out of their busy schedule to give positive comments.

I love you friends.

Thanks to #Michelle, Cheri, Ben and Word Press team for giving us nice assignments.

I don’t know what to write about the future. I always live life day-to-day as at this age everyone does not knowing when the party will be over.

Uncertain is life

Future is unpredictable

We plan and God laughs

Life is like a tree.

Quality of fruits and flowers depends on how you have nurtured it.

I’ll be waiting for the future assignment as I can’t write without a push or a prompt and meanwhile publish my photography challenges and try to take part in short fiction stories.

When the past is past

For future you are tense

To live in the present

Makes a good sense

Writing 101, Day 19: Link of Favorite Reads

Posted on

There are so many beautiful posts I read and as I always like to share good things with my friends I will share links so they can enjoy these posts.

Here are my all time favorite bloggers.

1- Rochelle Wisoff – Rochelle is master of emotional, touching, moving  fiction stories. She captures one’s heart with just 100 words. Her specialty is Historic fiction. Each story is a gem in itself.

2-  Mithai Mumblezz- 5000-years-ago-in-my-thoughts– A very well researched post about technological, philosophical and political richness of ancient times  by Mithai. In her own words   “Ramayana and Mahabharata are very complex tales…….but the sages wrote it in a simple way. In a much too simple way.
They told stories of science which common people interpreted as mythology.
In ancient times the mass population was kept under control in the name of superstition but most of them had a scientific or political reason behind them ……but with downfall of empires, the technology was lost but only the superstition remained.”

3- Momus News– This is a place for witty, satirical news and fiction stories. You would love each one of his stories.

4- A Journey Called Life– This is my friend Archits’s blog. In her own words ” I script details of the world around me; I write about unseen, unheard humane anecdotes – love, hurt, joy, silence, nostalgia- everything that gives voice to the mundane, meandering thoughts. I also click moments and call them photographs. In this blog, I combine words with photographs and share with you. Sometimes words win. Sometimes a photograph steals all the words with its silence.”

5- Ceenphotography.com/fun-foto-challenge– There are many photography blogs, I love all and nearly follow all. Cee is one of them. Her photo challenges are unique and fun to participate.

Writing 101, Day 17- Mine your own material.

When I had just joined Word Press, I wanted to do many things at a time. Writing short poems in Hindi and English, photography, short stories etc. I stumbled upon Haiku, Haynaku and Haibun  and tried my hand on that also. But I had no courage to publish them . This assignment has given me a nice chance mine my old material.

Seasons come and go
According to their cycle
Relish with fervor

Seasons come and go

According to their cycle

Our mood swings  with them

Haynaku

Time
never wasted
teaches you something

Something
to learn
from your failures

Failures
to gain
Success next time

 Haibun

“Not only the thirsty seek the water,
the water as well seeks the thirsty.” Rumi

I’m walking on the water, on the sea waves,
they engulf me, embrace me, caress me,
they are cooling, soothing, taking away all the worries from my mind
I need sea. Its vastness , calmness, serenity empowers me.
Does it needs me too?
How I’m to know?
They say, sea never takes anything from anyone,
it returns everything.
Is it unconditional love from its side.
Please, make me feel wanted, take me.

bonded forever
argument unresolved
are we soul mates.
