A Month of Mini Writing Challenges 2017

A Month of Mini Writing Challenges 2017

You’re on your way to work and a new, strange-looking shop has opened overnight.  You are drawn to it and go in but what – or who – is inside?  Tell us in less than 100 words.

A blood red painted shop with a signboard in white ‘KILLING IS FUN, JOIN IN’ was strange enough for me to enter the shop. It was full of various kinds of Mannequins.

The receptionist, with a counter full of knives, invited,’  choose any knife, put the face of the one you want to kill on any mannequin and stab as much you like, you’ll feel light-hearted.’

My obvious choice was my rude boss.

I stabbed to my heart’s content.

Delight, I turned and noticed my boss entering the shop.

His face was still intact on the mannequin.

Justice Delayed…

Justice delayed is justice denied.

The victim had evidences, witnesses, public and media sympathy and strong belief on the judiciary.

The accused had money, power and a shrewd lawyer who stretched the case so long that he had enough time to buy witnesses, destroy evidences and build proof that he was not present at the place of crime.

Public sympathy died after initial candle march and few days mourning and media lost interest as it thrives on TRP.

Victim lost the case, belief on the judiciary and hope.

Without hope died victim’s soul.

Only body is waiting for the actual burial.

guilty conscience

The moment sleep comes; I get up perspiring profusely, her cry for help ringing in my ears.

Whatever may be one’s karma, no one deserves this gruesome end.

I showed cowardice and am doomed for whole life.

I was just passing by when I witnessed the most heinous crime.

They were four men, behaving worst than an animal.

I was intimidated by their number.

I thought they will kill me if they see me, so I can’t help her anyway.

I can find excuses to console me. But the fact remains.

I could have done something to help her.

Mother’s Diary

How time flies by

Children are grown up and gone to their journey

I’m determined not to complain

There is so much to do

Wait for their yearly visit

Or visit past

Beautiful memories of

Four soft hands clutching my hands

Sparkle in their eyes

Vying for my attention

Their laughter filling my whole universe

Their schooling, their grooming, was all I cared for

Then with age their list of friends started increasing

They started spending more time with friends than with me

At first I craved for more of their time

Then, accepted

It’s all part of life

Sooner you accept

Happier you are

Writing 101, Day 10- Coffee Date with friends

Posted on

Though I prefer tea sometimes coffee is okay with friends, I relish it in their company.

Now if we were having coffee now, I would share this incident with you,

Once I was relishing lemon tea on my balcony all alone.

Watching surrounding hills

A road full of traffic all the times.

Everyone seems in a hurry to go somewhere.

Children playing in the park, shouting more, as they make more rules than they play

Making or breaking friends

Suddenly I noticed an ant

Trying to climb the wall with

The load doubles its weight

It was trying and falling, trying and falling

I couldn’t bear its plight

With compassion

I took it on a piece of paper and kept it

Where I assumed it wanted to go.

The ant looked at me indignantly and said

‘Who asked you to help me; I prefer to do my work myself.’

‘You thankless creature’, I retorted,

‘Didn’t I help you?’

She said,

‘Reaching my goal myself would have given me satisfaction

Trying, again and again, would make me tough and strong

I like to pass my time working hard

Now, what would I do the whole day,

Sit and brood like you?’

I know you all will laugh ‘ she must be dozing, dreaming about ants.’ Perhaps yes but your laugh is my reward.

Writing 101, Day 3- Secret

SECRET

Our was a small locality. We were all friends.

One day ‘A’ came to me and said

‘Listen ‘Cee’; please don’t tell anyone, it’s a top-secret. I’m telling you only.’

I said, ‘When you can’t keep it a secret then why expect it from me.’

‘I have faith in you that you will keep it a secret’, she said.

‘Please don’t tell me, if it’s that important’, I told her.

She got angry with me and went to another friend ‘Bee ‘and told her that ‘Cee’ can’t keep a secret so never tell her anything and don’t tell her that I have told you this.’

Now ‘Bee’ came to me and told me what ‘A’ was saying.

I asked ‘did she tell you to tell me.’ She said’ no but don’t tell her what I told you.’

‘Then when you can’t keep it a secret then why are you telling it to me?’

‘I’m doing you a favour because ‘A’ will tell everyone  that you can’t keep a secret so not to tell you anything, then no one will share a secret with you.’

I said ‘I don’t mind anyone not telling me a secret. Everyone should keep their secret with them.’ Now ‘Bee’ also became angry with me and went to tell it to other friends.

That’s how I was branded as a girl who can’t keep a secret.

Blogging 101,Day Nine- Get inspired from the neighbor

I was going through Friday Fictioneers hosted by- https://rochellewisofffields.wordpress.com for 100 words fiction stories.  I was inspired by lingeringvisions, and taking a cue from her I wrote this story.

Friday Fictioneers: What Race are You? “I am Green” said the Moth.

End of Dispute

The green moth was  hurt, ‘What do you mean by which race?’ aren’t we both moths.’

The other one said-‘ No, Everyone has a race to be proud of.’

Seeing the moths fighting to prove their superiority,

the on looking bird intervened.

‘Stop fighting you, two morons!

‘A moth is a moth is a moth.

Colour or race makes no difference.’

‘Sit side by side and let me inspect closely and decide which one is from a better race.

They did.

The bird gobbled them up, smacked its beak and said ‘ you both are fools but delicious, no doubt.’

Sony and Woofy

Sony and Woofy were inseparable. They had grown together. Woofy followed Sony everywhere.

So when Sony told mother that Woofy was a special dog who can talk and he is even more intelligent than Sony so she should allow Woofy to go to school with her, she dismissed it as a figment of his imagination.

‘Dogs don’t talk.’ She said. Woofy barked in disagreement.

‘See!’ Woofy told sony, ‘I talk to her, in fact all the animals, birds and nature talk to you human beings but few understand our language. That’s why they don’t understand our grievances.’

Mountain out of …

Living under constant threat of terrorism makes one skeptical of even small things.

When people saw this thing lying on the footpath they started all sorts of speculation from a safe distance. Everyone had his own idea about what it could be.

As soon as someone mentioned bomb, everyone started to run. Someone called the bomb squad. Suddenly a man came cycling fast, picked it. Tying it to the cycle carrier muttered, ‘ drop dare to drop again, I’m already late for work.’

Someone caught him. ‘You can’t leave before telling what this is?’

‘My mop, what else? ‘Said he.

Five Sentence Fiction – Waiting

WAKE UP CALL

The world was waiting with bated breath; my team members were chewing their nails as it was cricket world cup finals between two recognized rival countries making the match more interesting.

Last over, last ball and I was the last batsman to take the strike, only four runs needed to win.

I looked equally menacingly at the bowler; corrected my stance: it was either hit six or be doomed.

Someone wailed in my ears ‘ wake up silly, wake up’

Oh no! Why mother comes always at the wrong time or was it the dream always comes at the waking time.
