Weekend Writing Prompt #19 – Abundance

Poetry Challenge – Write a non-rhyming poem, in 15 lines or less, that includes the words:

  • abundance, prosperity, plenty

Nature’s gifts

were in abundance

for everyone

without discrimination

hoping humans will use it with wisdom

for their prosperity

there were plenty

for everyone’s need

though

not for their greed

they took them for granted

misused, wasted and abused

and like fools cut the branches

on which, they were sitting

Conscience

‘Life is a carnival; Let us enjoy all the joy rides. Who cares for the share market, banks and economy?’

They were a bunch of bankers, stock brokers and analyst enjoying reward of their greed, gamble and bonus culture. Their indulgence knew no bound.

Suddenly conscience of one of them started tormenting him. In spite of the fear that anyone of his partner in crime may shoot him, he wrote a book about how they were responsible for downfall of stock market and world economy.

He was happy that at last he listened to his conscience but the harm was done.

COLD BLOODED

The prisoners were lying in the morgue in a row, their sale-able organs removed.

They were handpicked by the racketeer from various prisons, very well knowing that no one ever came to visit them or inquired about them, so they were easy prey.

They will lie there for a few days then will be cremated without any sympathy or concern.

‘Worthless! Would have died anyway in the prison, without doing any good deed’, thought the racketeer,’ now at least they will serve mankind with their valuable organs. They should thank me for they will be going to heaven at last.’

Five Sentence Fiction – Godman

Posted on

http://lilliemcferrin.com/five-sentence-fiction-human/

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week I will post a one-word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word.

The word does not have to appear in your five sentences, just use it for direction.

This week: HUMAN

SOURCE

Cheater

The man lying on the pavement in tattered clothes was the same man, who, once lived like a king, was worshiped like god by his disciples, who foolishly believed in his magic tricks, smooth talks and false promises, hoped that with his superpower he will help them get money, power, and success without any hard work.

He took advantage of their laziness, greed, and stupidity, made enough money, acquired enough power to think him above law till one day, when he molested a minor girl, who was brought to him by her poor parents for some treatment, in the hope that he will cure her with some prayers.

He was caught as the girl and her parents complained to police, though he feigned innocence no one believed him this time and the same people who have put him on the high pedestal were after his blood, realizing the seriousness of the situation he absconded in tattered clothes to disguise himself, praying not to be recognized as he knew nothing is worse than mobs furry.

When he could run no more, hungry and tired he fell down and lost his consciousness, lying there he was getting sympathy from people who did not know his real identity but was he human, worthy of their pity?

Who was to be blamed, people who gave him the chance to cheat themselves or the fake godman who took advantage of their greed and cheated them?

A Prayer

O God ! please let me have

Jealousy, greed, selfishness, haughtiness,

hatred, cruelty, and lust

as my enemies.

Ego, stubbornness, anger, hunger

mind and body

as my slaves

Love, positivity, compassion, compatibility,

kindness, courage, and righteousness

as my companions.

And You and my conscience

as my mentor.
