DAILY PROMPT– Bedtime
In childhood’ bedtime was for a lullaby, stories of fairies, gnomes, demons, prince and princess, adventures…
In youth’ it was time for dreams for the future with open eyes, reading stories. How we procrastinated sleep. There was so much to think of, to make plans for the future, parties, cricket, football, and tennis matches. Who wants to sleep?
In middle age, bedtime was for introspection. How much we have achieved, how much is there to achieve. How much time we have wasted in daydreaming. Are we giving 100 percent to get what we want etc.etc?
Now at old age, bedtime is the time to worry whether sleep will come or night will pass counting sheep or worrying about the past or what is in store for us in the future. All the sleep procrastination of youth is punishing now with insomnia.
God of sleep eludes
Those cursed with insomnia
Blessed sleep blissfully
