Word Prompt- Raindrops

Photo Prompt

Thanks, Sammi for the prompts.

Challenge

Prose Challenge – Write a story on any theme, with an upper limit of 250 words, set in the rain.

Poetry Challenge – Write an acrostic poem, where the first letter of each line spells “Raindrops” as it is read from top to bottom.

I was watching raindrops falling on the tree leaves and sliding down on the floor playing sliding game as we used to do in our childhood.

We siblings used to drench in the rains requesting mother to make hot pakoras and tea.

She did, after scolding for dirtying the house with mud but the fun digested everything.

Though old had taken such fun away, but we had our share of fun.

So calming down and enjoying the bicker of rain against the glass window is still so much fun.

The first shower of monsoon made me nostalgic.

I went out to get some fun and get drenched as I did in the childhood.

My neighbors, hearing me sneezing hard and shivering poured advises, like what I should do and what should I take.

Someone brought black pepper Rasam, the best cure for the cold, while the other one ginger tea. They did not rest until they made me change my wet clothes and wrapped me in the blanket.

They started telling each other all sorts of stories about how a simple cold can cause pneumonia or some other dangerous disease if not treated properly and one even recited how her distant relative died after suffering from a simple looking cough and cold.

Between all this hullabaloo one thing became clear that everyone is a doctor of some sort and my neighbors loved and cared for me their old neighbor and am not a lonely and abandoned person in this world.

After four years of courtship just when I was expecting a marriage proposal his denial at the pretext of his parent’s disapproval hit me hard.

I wanted to cry my heart out but there is no place in this crowded city where one can sit peacefully without being noticed and cry.

Then it rained, first slowly then heavily as if to wash my agony away, to wash my tears away.

But to my surprise tears didn’t come.

I was enjoying the rain instead.

Life doesn’t end with someone’s rejection.

There is so much to enjoy.

I phoned him.

“Go to hell.”

The Daily Post- Music

I love music,  all types of music it just has to be soothing, comforting and melodious. The best music for me is of rain falling on the roof. I can hear it for hours without getting bored.

The soothing sound of rain

Musical, divine, comforting

Refreshment for the soul

You’ve been granted magical engineering skills, but you can only use them to build one gadget or machine. What do you build?

The rate with which underground water is going down and monsoon is playing hide and seek, I would use my magical  engineering skills  make artificial clouds and distribute equally all over the world for timely rains.

It’s nothing new as cloud seeding is always in use but in some places but it plays havoc also in the form  storm, hail storm etc. With magical skills I will make artificial rains with positive effect only.

Just imagine, it will be a boon for agriculture. Now farmers are suffering  from either flood or drought in my country. Everyday you hear of farmer’s suicide cases as they are unable to pay their loans. No one can live without food but how many think of farmer’s dilemma? What hardship they face and how they cope with water shortage. I’m not taking here about rich farmers of rich country but farmers of developing country.country. Isn’t an irony that main food supplier to people are living under so poor conditions.

Enough and timely rains will bring good harvest , making farmers rich and  enough food for everyone.

Bowed by the weight of centuries he leans upon his hoe and gazes on the ground, the emptiness of ages in his face, and on his back the burden of the world.
