three line tales week 94: old pots in a sink

SINKING

The sink full of dirty pots is staring at me.

Helping hand didn’t turn up, as usual, my heart is sinking.
I forgot mother’s teaching, ‘to hell…’, sometimes cuss words are so relieving.

Justice Delayed…

Justice delayed is justice denied.

The victim had evidences, witnesses, public and media sympathy and strong belief on the judiciary.

The accused had money, power and a shrewd lawyer who stretched the case so long that he had enough time to buy witnesses, destroy evidences and build proof that he was not present at the place of crime.

Public sympathy died after initial candle march and few days mourning and media lost interest as it thrives on TRP.

Victim lost the case, belief on the judiciary and hope.

Without hope died victim’s soul.

Only body is waiting for the actual burial.

In Search Of…

The bullet had gone straight through his head, spilling the contents outside.

His brain was looking like fat scattered from the biggest can.

What surprised him was his body was lying there dead but he was watching it.

Was his soul watching the incident?

Is there really something called soul, he wondered.

Nauseating though it was, his soul was mesmerized, watching intently from a distance.

His soul witnessed mischievous thoughts, buried deep in his mind, suppressed forcefully by him all his life, coming out.

Now they were free.

Taking bizarre shapes they flew away, in the search of a new prey.

Mother wrote to me,

“Everyone turns to their root at one point in their life.”

“Ha!” I replied, “I have adjusted in this foreign land with its culture, philosophy and almost everything, moreover I’m comfortable with work facilities here.”

Mother replied,

“People are like migratory birds, no matter how much you fly away, you come back home at last.”

“No way!” I concluded.

Now watching my parents standing hand in hand even after so many fights, arguments, difference of opinion at their fiftieth wedding anniversary, I suddenly felt insecure, can’t explain why?

I wrote to mother,

“Mother we are coming back.”

Five Sentence Fiction – Fearless

Lillie McFerrin Writes

FEARLESS

They were pack of six daredevils, studying in the same college, sharing a rented house in our locality.

Apart from participating in dangerous games they were ever ready to help others, be it walking in fire, jump in the water or climb the mountain to save someone, they were pride of our locality.

Our locality leaders thought to award them to encourage other youths.

Members of felicitation committee went to their house for some details only to found them huddled together in a corner shivering with fright.

Their object of fright was a big fat cockroach looking at them as if asking ‘ why are you afraid of a little insect like me?’

(Based on a true incident, I witnessed on my train journey to Goa)

OPTIMISM

Life can be very boring, sitting whole day in a corner, watching workers doing their job, even for a stuffed goat.

Do you believe in animism? I do. I have soul like plants, winds and mountains. I can’t speak but I can understand everything.

When one day one worker scolded her pretty daughter for not studying properly and failing in the same class again and again that if she fails one more time he will marry her off to me.

Since then life has become a bit interesting. I am waiting for her to fail.

Optimism makes life bearable.

First version of FF

HOPE

I was assigned the most important job in the office to keep  watch on fellow workers.

I knew they despised me and whispered to each other, ‘ see that back biter, sitting there whole day like a stuffed goat, doing nothing and bleating all the time.’

I might have resigned long back but one day I overheard the boss threatening that pretty worker, ‘ look you silly goat! You make too many mistakes. One more mistake and I will make you marry that goat and resign.’

Since then I’m waiting for her to make a mistake. Hope keeps a man alive.

My friend Archita  asked “how can we get hoho back to earth now. ” then she gave me a suggestion “Load-shedding after 2 mins ..so She cannot eat the half grilled apple ; she throws it away . Hoho is half burned and half-powered now..He has to stay somewhere in the middle of earth and space and has to scare birds , helicopter , flight passengers to achieve full power once again . :D . Pepe and Popo are friendless now .. and together they start making a big plan now.. 2nd story starts :) :)’

So Hi !  Archita here is HOHO back on your demand and as per your suggestions. Thanks.

HOHO Returns

Hoho, the ghost, was inside the apple, she kept it in the oven and switched it on.

Nothing happened. She remembered it was the power cut time. Cursing the electric dept. she took out the apple to roast it in the gas oven.

Knowing her intentions, Hoho fled like a hurricane, having pepe and popo on his tail.

They stopped when they were exhausted. They found themselves in a forest.  Cool, comforting full of trees.

Hoho said ” I am done with this scaring business. I am not going there again. “

Pepe said, ” But we all will be expelled from our community.”

Hoho -” We will form other community, there are others who do not like this terrifying other and making life hard for people. they will join us.”

They all agreed to help people from now onwards.

That is how the angle ghosts and devil ghosts community was formed.

You may have noticed, when you are in distress, without any hope , in some difficult situation, Suddenly, someone out of nowhere comes and helps you. This is the Ho’s community. You have to have faith in them and they will help you.

As for the devils, beware of them, sometimes they may come in the disguise of angels, but if you are careful, you can recognize them.

Mission Unsuccessful – Horror again

Today, 16th May is my daughter Soma Mukherjee’s Birthday. She loves ghost tales, so this story is my gift to her.

Happy Birthday Soma, love, hugs and blessings.

Mission Unsuccessful

Pepe and Popo were two ghosts, unable to frighten anyone. On the contrary they were themselves frightened very easily.

There is one rule among ghosts that they have to scare people otherwise they will be expelled. Now , they tried very hard but failed. So they were Expelled .
Feeling very sad they were searching for some place to hide, lest other ghosts will laugh on them.

Then they found her house, they slipped quietly under her bed. Here they tried to scare her by making her things vanished. But to their disappointment, she scolded her maid and warned her to be careful.

Though they were happy there, but missed terribly their community .

They thought of taking help from a little sympathetic ghost Hoho, who has the power to take any form.

He accepted to help them.

He told them if he hides in something thing and it vanishes suddenly before her eyes, she certainly will be scare to death.

Pepe said ” Really? , why not hide in eggs or sausages which she eats in her breakfast.”

Hoho said ” no, no, she will either boil or fry them and you know I’m afraid of fire. More over if we burn us, all our powers will be taken back and we have to leave earth and live in space, where you can’t find anyone to scare.”

Popo said ‘ OK, so you hide in the apple, she daily eats an apple , and when she will go to have a bite vanish with it.’ Ho agreed.

They were very excited. This was the longest night for them. Though night and day are same for them for they don’t sleep. Hoho hid in the  apple , there was only one apple there, he felt happy.

In the morning she got up, brushed her teeth. She searched her fridge for something to eat. She found an apple. She was about to eat, but then suddenly changed her mind.
She kept the apple in the electric grille and switched it on.

She decided to eat grilled apple with cinnamon and sugar.

You Can’t Scare Ghosts

Posted on

She wanted to scare her husband and was waiting for him,  well prepared.

As he entered his bedroom, he saw his wife, with a glass full of blood, her face smeared with blood, laughing weirdly.
” So she wants to scare me,” he thought.

” You can’t scare me with all this tomato sauce or whatever it is.” He said loudly.

” This is not tomato sauce, this is fresh blood and if you are not scared? Watch this.” She hissed and took out a knife, cut her palm and said: ” See, no blood, ghosts don’t bleed.”

He laughed ” I know all these magic tricks,  Now you see.” and took the knife from her hand.

Holding his hair with one hand, he sliced his neck with a clean sweep and said

” See, no blood”
She fainted.
