The Quilt Story

A tradition kept alive by Women deep In the heart of Rural India, lies the Origin of ‘The Quilt Story’! Each quilt is the Result of Patience, Dedication, and sheer ambition of skilled women. Each knot and each stitch tells the story of the creator’s imagination, creativity, and perseverance. ‘The Quilt Story’ is an effort to empower these women who hail from a village in Himachal and to take the story of their creation to the world. The quilts come in covers of cotton, satin, and silk and in sizes that meet all requirements. Authentically hand-stitched, these are not metered quilts but a work of art!. WISE  TRADITIONS

Radha is going to get married today but as per the village tradition; she has to marry a mango tree first.

She ties a red sacred thread to the tree trunk, embraces it, puts her cheek on it, and then proceeded to marry her real husband.

To fight the menace of  dowry system,  villagers of  Dharhara  has made it a tradition to plant ten mango trees with the birth of each girl child so by the time they grow up,  revenue from its fruits are enough for their dowry and wedding expenses and the mango tree acts as the real guardian of the girls.

boundaries of
hatred
culture

color
caste and creed
for two lovers
and kill mindlessly
in the name of honor killing
now
we are
free from restrictions
shackles
no one can part us now
no one can put a label
or cover us anymore
we are free from flesh
and from the boundaries it creates
we are immortal
eternal lovers
