#Haikai Challenge #111 (11/2/19): withering wind (kogarashi) #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga

This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga, etc.) that states or alludes to withering wind (kogarashi).

making trees barren

The mighty withering wind

Blows off all the leaves

———————-

 clinging  to the trees

leaves know not how to survive

the withering wind

———————————————-

cling on to the truth

fear, not the withering wind

fight with all your might

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #63 – Magical

“Every moment there are a million miracles happening around you: a flower blossoming, a bird tweeting, a bee humming, a raindrop falling, a snowflake wafting along with the clear evening air. There is magic everywhere. If you learn how to live it, life is nothing short of a daily miracle.”

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #65

PROMPT FOR THIS WEEK

Challenge 65

Too much of consumerism

disrupted

the balance of nature

Kings, Maharajas,

politicians, businessmen, rich

were busy in money making

as money brings POWER

public, either terrified to raise a voice

or whining for their sorrows, or

oblivious to nature’s balance

accepting all as their destiny, gods fury

Some had a clear vision

the first on to start a movement to save sacred trees

along

with Bishnoi Villagers

dared to raise a voice and saved the trees

it took 363 lives to awaken the people from their slumbers

then came CHIPKO MOVEMENT

led by

Sundarlal Bahuguna, who explained to villagers

of the importance of trees to the environment

of the soil erosion due to the cutting of trees

of draught

of pollution, pure air

very slowly people were awakening

whole India was stirred by

Save Silent Velly Movement

Jungle Bachao Andolan

Appiko Movement

Narmada Bachao Andolan

etc. etc.

All visionaries are  doing their bit

but,

what the rest in the world is doing

waiting for the third world war for water

or, consuming to turn this planet a desert?

God knows

when the whole world sings in unison

enough is enough

Let us all save the Mother Earth

Nurturing Thursday- Thanksgiving

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”– Melody Beattie

“When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.” -Willie Nelson

A big heartfelt thanks to all the trees for being there for years and years and years.

Cee’s Flower of the Day (FOTD) Challenge

Night-flowering Jasmine These flowers are so heavenly fragrances but release its fragrance only at night. It is also called Shiuli in Bengali and Harshringar in Hindi.

This is one of the best healing herbs.

Scientific nameNyctanthes arbor-tristis

The word, Pārijāta refers to the Indian coral tree, night-flowering coral jasmine, or simply fragrance. But, written and pronounced as Parijāta it means – descended from, begotten by or fully developed.

In Hindu mythology, the celestial Pārijāta tree is the tree of the universe which is owned by Indrani and planted in svarga located between heaven and earth, which tree, also known as Kalpa-Taru, is believed to yield all objects of desire.[2] This tree is identified with the Mandāra tree.

From the Bhagavata Purana, the Vishnu Purana and the Mahabharata it is learned that the elaborate process of Samudra Manthan of primal waters of the cosmic ocean yielded the Pārijāta tree as one of the three valuables, this tree, said to have blossomed atop Mount Meru in the garden of paradise and identified with the Indian coral tree, was claimed by Indra no sooner it rose to the surface and emitted its fragrance

Sunday Stills: Can You Capture the #Wind?

We can capture the action caused by the wind only and feel the wind.

Wind sings lullaby

But only when it’s gentle

Furious plays havoc

Trees are swaying dangerously in the storm.
