Christmas is around the corner
The sweet smell of cake hovers around
Old couple
Confined in a room
Holding hands
Comforting each other
Remembering the old golden busy days
Of partying with children and relatives
Now everyone busy with their own life
Old couple
Forlorn
Depression setting in
Still
Trying to count their blessings
Waiting anxiously
With a little hope in their heart
For a knock on the door
Celebrate, enjoy and party hard
But spare a thought for the lonely ones
Please don’t forget to visit them.

When I was at Kolkata, I saw a lady 80 years old with vacant eyes, looking forward to visit from daughter. The image still haunts me.
