my elder sister was 

hell-bent 

to train me 

for a dance show

but on the final show

I fumbled all my steps

to her disappointment and

to the confirmation

that I have two left feet

The dry spell no more

rain god waves  conjuring wand

sea water turns  grey

the trees become fresh and bathed

making earth lush emerald

need incantations 

to put the unripened fruits

back where they belonged

unluckily plucked in haste 

before they were fully ripe

humid and depressing

sucking water from your body

dehydrated

water scarcity

hits you hard

perched throats

yearn for 

cold water

and some relief

all seasons

are importance 

but living 

happily

through

ten months summer

is tough

heart yearns for

a cool, comforting,

pleasant breeze

Mother’s century

Though we could not celebrate

As she passed away

Three years before completing

Seeing her pain and discomfort

I prayed for her departure

Whom we love can’t see them in pain

( This is not a Tanka but had to add the last line)
