Pockets of Stillness

जिंदगी दौड़ रही
बेरोक बेलगाम सी 
कभी कभी इसमें 
विश्राम होना चाहिए
जिंदगी कटी यहाँ 
वहां घूम घूम के
अब तो कोई 
पड़ाव होना चाहिए
बदला ना खुद को कभी 
अपनी ही जिद में जिए
अब तो व्यवहार में 
बदलाव  होना चाहिए  
बचपन में खेले खूब  
जवानी में भटक लिए
बुढ़ापे में थोड़ा  
ठहराव होना चाहिए

We are dabbling with Erasure Poetry this week – call it White Out or Black Out as you please.

Erasure is a form of found poetry or found object art created by erasing words from an existing text in prose or verse and framing the result on the page as a poem.[1] The results can be allowed to stand in situ or they can be arranged into lines and/or stanzas.

BLUE: The Color Of Longing

The world is blue at its edges 

and in its depths

The blue that gets lost
never travels the 
whole distance
from the sun to us

the blue that got lost
the blue that does not reach us
gives color to the colorless water
purer the water 
the deeper the blue
at the horizon
the blue land
seems to be
dissolving in the blue sky
the blue
at the farthest
reaches of the places
where you see for miles
deeper
dreamier
melancholy blue
the blue 
color of distance
the blue
which does not touch us
does not travel the whole distance
is the beauty of the world
so much of which is 
in the color blue.
blue 
at the far edge 
of
what can be seen
the color of the horizon
of remote mountain ranges
of anything
far away
color of emotion
the color of
solitude and desire
the color
where you can never go
for
the blue is not
at the horizon
but in the atmospheric distance
between you and mountains
the color of
longings
for the distance
you never arrive in,
For the blue world

Now unscrupulous tree cutting

and unscrupulous use of plastics

Alas! only what I see around

A Month of Mini Writing Challenges 2017- day 30

Write a spooky poem in 13 lines for Halloween.

‘Your neighbor is spooky’ 

warned my friend  

but I never paid a heed

how can I believe it until I see her

performing a  spooky deed

then one day when she cut her hand 

and spilled not a drop of blood

I found it terrifying indeed

but she danced and sang swirling her head

in one hand at full speed

so blood-curdling was the sight 

I thought of taking a flight 

and to the nearest exit, I hurried

to conquer you
you run away from them
they chase you
you fight them
they empower you
you suppress them
they become an obsession
if they are goal oriented
they take you to the
destination
if they are only lust greed
they will take you to the
hell

Comfort Zone

Loneliness is the time when all sorts of thoughts confuse one, taking them to introspection as she was wondering while walking alone whether she has lived her life in a daze or else why there is so much loneliness, emptiness sometimes in her heart, in spite of being surrounded by relatives, friends, and neighbors, there was something missing in her life.

Suddenly she noticed a Fortune Teller sitting with his caged parrot, waiting for the people to come and know their fate.

Whenever some fortune seeker came, he opened the door, a parrot came out, selected a card, gave it to him, and went inside the cage.

She noticed it never tried to fly away, what’s more, it closed it if the owner forgot to close it.

Was it for food, security or has it become habituated to living alone, loving the captivity, or simply lazy like her who never tried to venture beyond her comfort zone?
