Five Sentence Fiction – Sunshine
SUNSHINE
As the father was getting ready for work, he called out to his daughter, “Lazy bones, get up! There is sunshine waiting for you to go for a walk and get some vitamin D for your bones.”
“Just five minutes, Father,” she started singing loudly, “Give me some sunshine, give me some rain, give me another chance, I want to grow up once again.”
He laughed and said, “I know you, in five minutes you’ll still be in bed begging for sunshine and another chance to grow.”
He left for his office, but exactly half an hour later, someone from his office came to their door and said, “Your father is no more.”
“No! It’s impossible,” she thought. “How could this happen to me? He was only 52 and I was only 20.” Just five months before, she had finished her exams and come to live with her father. Life had changed completely, but she had to accept everything and move on.
Life is so unpredictable; sometimes there will be clouds and sunshine. We should make full use of sunshine while it is still there and not take anything or anyone for granted.
Wow! Right between the eyes!
Yes, sometimes we take morning sunshine for granted – until we lose them.
Many sunshine filled years ahead,
Eric
