Five Sentence Fiction – Freedom
FREEDOM
My dog was 15 days old when brought as a pet, kept with great care and love; still, he longed to go outside and play with the street dogs and envied them for their freedom.
When he was one year old, in his quest for freedom he escaped one day and ran outside to play with other dogs but as soon as the peck of stray dogs saw him they chased him barking fiercely, scared he ran like hell and hid in the nearby forest where his foot got entrapped in a thin wire animal trap.
Thankfully dogs did not chase him in the forest; he was very much scared, hungry, and longing for his owner’s care and love.
Somehow he managed to free himself and ran for his house where he was scolded by worried owners but given a bath, food, love, and a soft bed to sleep.
Freedom is dangerous and risky he thought, bondage has its own comfort, security, and convenience once you become accustomed to it.
Hmm, yes, safer surely. Especially for such a young dog.
